We are pleased to announce the release of an ep: mistakes, no mistakes through the "Fair Trade" music site Noisetrade.com.

This release, which can be downloaded for free simply by spreading the word to friends, highlights 7 of the best tracks from our 29 podcast episodes plus a "radio edit" of the song orange county that just omits the talking and intro strumming from the song.

We are still working on the follow up to 2006's here is where we are, but numerous delays and the availability of the noise trade widget and fair trade music model have allowed us to give you something while we continue the writing and recording process.

the overdubs podcast 29: i don't deserve it, landscape

The other day I considered ending our podcast run because I need to try and trim a few things from my schedule and budget.

In the process of trying to decided whether to continue our podcast, I just happened to look at our statistics, I promise that I am telling the God's honest truth when I say I hadn't checked in a year and a half at least. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that we do in fact have an audience, something 8,200 views and downloads in the last one year period.

When I started the page around two years ago, I simply did it because not many other bands (well, maybe zero that I knew of) were doing it and I was sitting on dozens of songs that I wanted to release but not in a traditional, iTunes or show merch kind of way. Now, of course, it goes without saying that listener data shouldn't necessarily be the sole motivation for continuing a podcast. And it isn't because I still have hundreds more songs I want to put out. But it is encouraging to find out that at least a few hundred people have/are listening and I would love some more interaction from those of you that do turn in. Also, it's a reminder in a journalistic sense (and podcasts are by nature, at least part journalism as well as entertainment) that I must return the loyalty of the reader/listerner by not betraying their trust in any way.

So, on we go. Off and Up and Away.

So, we survived the gig without Weston and actually had quite a bit of fun. I kind of like being a power pop band and playing zero ballads with plenty of anti-guitar solos. But still, I'm much happier with more guitars. Right now, I'm starting a rumor that we are going to be playing Rogue festival this year...stay tuned.

so it may have been a stretch for our friends to figure out how to get there but those that found us at full circle last friday were treated to an excellent sets by shayna and the bulldog and vincent vera and a short but energetic set by us... at ten we were informed that the music would be stopping at 11:00 and not 12:00 as we had previously thought so we had to call a couple audibles.

despite the difficulties, a good time was enjoyed by all and we look forward to gracing the stage at Full Circle Brewing Company in old Chinatown at some time again in the near future...

Friday night's show with Shayna and the Bulldog finally finds a venue and lands at Full Circle Brewing Company, our first time playing there. I am excited about the bill, you get SATB, website here, our favorite Davis country rock band and numero uno myspace friends, plus Vincent Vera, 20-year-old folk songwriter plus us. So, it's a night of American music, neo indie Americana if you will, fairly unique in Fresno I think. Hope to see you all out.

I never did get around to writing about some of the zaniness and general Lynchian scenarios of the Zapp's Park show. Still, despite a less than stellar turnout and some underage stoned rappers, I think everyone can agree that we should do it again. Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, neither opening act turned up and we played for around two hours. Chalk it up to my personal inexperience with promoting shows...I should have booked at least six bands for Zapp's. Not that I blame Vincent, it's not his fault that WE were late.

Hello everyone, we know that the last couple podcasts haven't exactly been up to our usual high standards hehe, hopefully this one is a almost-return to form, Revenge of the Sith-style. Also, congratulations to President-elect Obama! When I recorded this podcast intro, earlier in the day, he hadn't won yet. Though I voted for Nader (who then proceeded to make some ill-timed and embarassing racial remarks) and I still stand by his anti-corporate, pro-poor/populist platform despite his media-baiting yesterday, I hold out a great hope that Obama can be the unifying, inspiring president that our country needs in these troubled times. Globally, we are poised to eliminate poverty and defeat malaria and AIDS. At home, there is much to be changed. It is our hope that this is just the beggining of change in America.

so, we stayed up all night...not partying but trying to put toddlers to sleep and in Gino's case, being licked by large, mangy dogs. then we drove three and half hours and played to a nicely receptive crowd at yoshi now. it was a good trip. my ralph nader endorsement was not received well in davis, hear someone's response on the bootleg below. (you know who you are) fresnans seemed ok with nader and the fall flea was a great time even though we were sleepy. hopefully the 36 hour nine volt tour was only the first of our anti-punk rock and roll family forays into the wilderness and beyond.

our friends from shayna and the bulldog recorded our set and you can download it here, right click and save as, for as long as they host it. i would say be reasonable about their badnwith, if I really believed this blog was a threat haha. also, keep in mind that my vocals are particularly poor and sound something akin to an 80 year old cowboy singing for a replacements cover band. there are many reasons for this but i don't want to make exscuses. still, some people even sang along.
